“Sands of Time” seems a natural progression from discussing change to addressing the flow of time and how it affects the natural and human worlds: Time moves on, whether you do or not. It was my first fully fleshed-out song.
lyrics
Years go by like seconds and minutes,
passing us by like a breeze.
“I build mountains
and destroy them,
ticking away with the greatest of ease.”
Sing, sing of the blank future,
sing, sing of time gone by.
“Every song ends, but is
that a reason to pass it by?”
All life is evanescent,
you’ve got to take a dive.
“If we wait
until we’re ready,
we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives.”
Sing, sing of the blank future,
sing, sing of time gone by.
“Every song ends, but is
that a reason to pass it by?”
From the sands of Ancient Egypt
to the dunes of today,
through tempus pax
et tempus bellum,
the flow of time goes by.
Sing, sing of the blank future,
sing, sing of time gone by.
“Every song ends, but is
that a reason to pass it by?”
